Job Description
To administer and provide technical support to enterprise system infrastructure in order to ensure system availability and security in line with the departmental KPIs and SLA
System Administration
- Administer enterprise windows infrastructure that includes Active Directory, DNS, DHCP to ensure
- Administer enterprise email and fax solutions that includes Exchange and Rightfax systems
- Create, modify and disable system users as requested through the service desk
- Assign security rights to folders and applications as identified by business users
- Produce regular system reports to be used for capacity and availability management and planning
- Automate system administration processes through the use of internal and external tools.
System Support
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues on time within agreed KPIs and SLA
- Analyze system and security logs for potential issues and risks.
- Daily health checks to monitor disk, memory, cpu, network usage and adjust settings as needed to ensure system is optimized
- Escalate issues on time to hardware and software vendors for quick resolution
- Support the service desk process by providing user support as needed and in line with the escalation process
Backup and recovery
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly backup jobs to ensure backup data is available in the event of disaster
- Perform scheduled restoration activities of backup data on tape to ensure backup tapes are workable
- Analyze and review backup job history and perform needed changes to ensure backup is finished on time
- Monitor disaster recovery systems in the alternative data center to ensure that it is updated in the event of disaster.
System maintenance
- Apply patches and fixes as recommended by software and hardware vendor for security and performance purposes
- Schedule maintenance during off peak hours to avoid impact on business operations
- Setup and maintain test environment and ensure all changes are tested and approved before releasing to production environment
- Update Configuration management database and ensure all configuration items are accounted for.
System installation
- Install Windows systems and other business applications with the latest patches and updates
- Properly configure systems and application based on business and vendor requirements
- Prepare and assemble servers based on system requirements
Documentation
- Write and maintain documentation of existing system infrastructure and ensure documentation is up to date when changes or new systems are implemented.
- Draw the overall enterprise system infrastructure for easy reference
- Write and maintain operational procedures that includes system installation, user creation, backup and recovery process.
Skills
- Technical certification from known IT vendors such as MCSE or MCSA or CCNA
- Experience in latest Windows infrastructure e.g. Windows Server 2008/2012, Active Directory, Exchange 2010, Hyper-V, SCCM,SCOM etc.
- Experience in Data Center operations
- Experience in User support
- Knowledge in Network Administration
- Understanding of ITIL framework and other IT operations best practices
