Manager - Database Administration

 To manage the company's database infrastructure that includes design, configure, deploy, support and improve in order to ensure that the database is scalable, secure and optimized to support the business requirements and growth. Ensure data availability and integrity round the clock.

Database management and administration

• Build the physical design of database system
• Install and upgrade the Oracle and SQL Database server and application tools
• Configure and implement Oracle RAC and SQL consolidated environment
• Allocate proper storage and planning future storage requirements in line with data growth
• Creation of table spaces as required by development team
• Review and modify database structure as requested by development team
• Plans and implement backup and recovery process for Oracle and SQL database
• Review impact analysis for system changes requested by application developers
• Monitor and ensure that database replication to the alternative data center is working at all times.

Database maintenance and performance tuning

• Perform database performance tuning to ensure database system is optimized for application use through daily health check monitoring.
• Perform database re-organization as needed to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database
• Apply patches and fixes on time as required by software vendors. Patches and fixes should be tested first before applying to production environment
• Evaluate new version and releases of database system and recommend changes to improve stability and performance of database systems

Database security 

• Creation of database user and assigning security control in line with application requirement and IT
• Ensure Databases back and recovery, ensure replication and synchronization with DR site
•  Enforce and maintain database constraints to ensure database integrity
• Review security implication and implement controls for new application being built by the development team
• Review and ensure compliance with database licenses agreements

Database support

• Troubleshoot database system on time within agreed KPI and SLA
• Escalate and follow up issues with software vendors as required
• Support development team by providing database development and test environment and applying changes to the database structure as requested.
• Support the service desk process by following the agreed escalation process and resolving issues based on KPI and SLAs

Documentation

• Write and maintain documentation of existing database system that includes database structure, database configuration and database history
• Draw and maintain an updated Database infrastructure map for easy reference
• Write and maintain database management procedures which includes installation, creation of database instance, user creation, assigning roles and DR fail-over

• Experience in Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) and SQL consolidated database setup
• Experience in database replication and disaster recovery implementation
• Experience in both Unix and Windows operating system
• Understanding of ITIL framework and other TSBT operations best practices
