Job Description
The Director of IT Infrastructure is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of an organization’s IT infrastructure. This role involves managing the IT infrastructure team, ensuring the reliability of IT systems, and aligning IT infrastructure initiatives with the company’s overall business objectives. The Director of IT Infrastructure plays a critical role in ensuring that the organization’s IT systems support business operations and growth. The Director provides strategic direction for the organization's technical infrastructure (including hardware, software, servers, databases, storage solutions, networks, audiovisual equipment or physical facilities, backend systems, unified communication and datacentre) in support of critical district business needs.
Key Accountabilities:
1- Networks Management
- Lead network design, implementation, and maintenance, including LAN, WAN, and VPN.
- Ensure robust and reliable network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN and internet connections.
- Address network issues promptly and implement security measures to protect against cyber threats.
- Upgrading network infrastructure to support increased traffic and new technologies.
2- Database Management:
- Lead the administration, architecture , performance, and security of the organization’s databases.
- Implement the IT policies related to data integrity, backup, and recovery.
3- Systems Administration and Backend Systems Management:
- Lead the configuration and operation of computer systems and servers across the organization as well as installation and configuration of all hardware and software.
- Lead and monitor the design and implementation of the databases as well as the documentation of database architecture, scheme, tables, procedures and permissions.
- Oversee and manage the work performed by the Database Administration team and the Systems Administration team across operations management, end user support, and vendor management.
- Lead the maintenance, upgrading, and optimization of backend systems to ensure seamless operation and integration with other systems.
- Modernizing legacy IT systems to improve performance and scalability.
4- Datacenter Management:
- Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure system availability during emergencies.
- Conduct regular testing and updates of recovery plans.
- Ensure the datacenter operates efficiently, including power, cooling, and space management. Implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
5- Unified Communication:
- Manage and integrate unified communication systems, including VoIP, video conferencing, and collaborative tools, to enhance organizational communication and efficiency.
