Job Description

Provides specialised hematology care within the ICC physical clinic on a part-time, in-person basis, addressing a broad range of blood and blood-forming organ disorders. Evaluates, diagnoses, and manages acute and chronic hematological conditions, including patients with anemia, coagulation and bleeding disorders, thrombosis requiring anticoagulation management, and those requiring surveillance or referral for hematologic malignancies.

Delivers evidence-based, patient-centred care during scheduled part-time in-clinic sessions, ensuring continuity of care, appropriate diagnostic work-up, and chronic disease management for patients seen. Coordinates closely with the full-time clinical and administrative teams to maintain continuity of care between sessions, applying population health and value-based care principles to improve clinical outcomes, optimise healthcare resources, and deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality hematology care, within the defined scope.

 

Patient Consultations and Management

         Deliver comprehensive, in-person hematology care during scheduled part-time clinic sessions at the ICC physical clinic, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up of acute and chronic hematological conditions.

         Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations, including history taking, physical examination, and review of relevant laboratory and peripheral blood findings during each in-clinic visit.

         Develop and implement individualised, evidence-based management plans, including medication management, anticoagulation monitoring, and referrals for procedures, imaging, or specialist input when indicated.

         Manage common hematology conditions, including iron deficiency and other anemias, coagulation and bleeding disorders, thrombophilia, and venous thromboembolism, ensuring continuity and coordination of care with the full-time clinical team between sessions.

         Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver integrated, patient-centred care within the scope of part-time attendance.

         Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EHR to support seamless handover and continuity of care.

         Promote hematologic health through preventive counselling, timely referral, chronic disease management, and population health and value-based care principles, within the available part-time clinic hours.

 

Quality Assurance and Compliance

         Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, providing clear guidance on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care to support informed decision-making.

         Ensure compliance with clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards while maintaining accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation for all in-clinic encounters.

         Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based general surgery practice and in-clinic regulations through continuous professional development.

         Contribute to clinical governance by participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and regulatory compliance programmes, within part-time hours.

 

Professional Development             

         Maintain and continuously enhance clinical knowledge in hematology and in-person best practices.

         Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) activities to remain current with evidence-based practices in general surgery.

         Integrate the latest clinical evidence into practice to continuously improve the quality, safety, and effectiveness of patient care delivered during part-time sessions..

Clinical Documentation and EHR Proficiency

         Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with organisational policies and applicable data privacy regulations.

         Demonstrate proficiency in the clinic's EHR system to ensure efficient, high-quality, and well-documented in-person consultations.

         Participate in ongoing training and adopt system enhancements and best practices, collaborating with relevant support teams to optimise performance and user experience.

 

Patient Safety and Satisfaction

         Uphold the highest standards of patient safety by delivering safe, evidence-based care and adhering to established clinical safety protocols during all in-person patient interactions.

         Identify, report, and escalate patient safety risks, incidents, and quality concerns in accordance with organisational policies.

         Counsel patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, potential adverse effects, and follow-up care to support informed decision-making and medication safety.

         Deliver compassionate, patient-centred consultations through effective communication, comprehensive clinical assessment, empathy, and shared decision-making.

         Monitor patient feedback and contribute to quality improvement initiatives that strengthen patient safety, clinical outcomes, and service excellence.

Collaboration with Healthcare Teams

         Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care and optimise clinical outcomes, ensuring continuity between part-time in-clinic sessions and full-time coverage.

         Provide clinical expertise and recommendations to support evidence-based decision-making and integrated care planning.

         Facilitate clear and timely communication among healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and quality of care .

  • Mentor and support junior physicians and healthcare professionals through clinical guidance and knowledge sharing during scheduled clinic time.

Skills

 

     3 years minimum in haematology clinical practice

     Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from an accredited medical school.

     Residency training in Internal Medicine from an accredited programme.

     Board certification in Internal Medicine.

     Fellowship certification in Hematology.

     Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) classification and registration as Hematology Consultant.

     Proven experience as a Hematology Consultant or similar role, preferably in a hospital or outpatient clinical setting.

     Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR).

     Strong clinical judgment and analytical skills.
